ROCS Holidays 30-Day Grand Canadian Train Journey
DAY 17 TUESDAY, 16 JULY 2024 TORONTO
Toronto, the capital city of Ontario, is a diverse and vibrant city situated on Lake Ontario’s northwestern shore. It’s a dynamic metropolis with a core of soaring skyscrapers, all dwarfed by the iconic CN Tower. Toronto also has many green spaces, from the orderly oval of Queen’s Park to 400-acre High Park and its trails, sports facilities and zoo. In the summer, long, hot days are packed with cultural events, festivals, concerts and Blue Jays baseball games. A healthy city, full of green space, rivers, parks and forests. Many of these green spaces are connected, creating corridors for wild animals like coyotes, foxes, raccoons, skunks and squirrels to travel through. Just a two and a half-hour drive away from Toronto is the Muskoka region, where larger mammals like moose, bears and white-tailed deer can be found in a natural landscape of forests, waterfalls, rugged rock formations, lakes and rivers. It is ripe with outdoor activity in the summer months, with options ranging from cycling, hiking and fishing to canoeing, paddle boarding and cruising on Lake Ontario. The Harbourfront Centre is a mecca of entertainment, culture, and art hosting live acts at the Toronto Music Gardens, or you can pick up a game of volleyball at Ashbridges Bay. In the Muskoka Region, more adventure awaits with ample paddling, cruising and zip lining opportunities.
