Mount Etna is the highest volcano in Europe, and one of most active of the world. Its impressive size overlooks the whole Sicily. Its spectacular eruptions and its fiery lava flows, has always aroused the interest of scientists along with the curiosity of visitors from all over the world. Since 2013 it is in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List for its geological peculiarities of planetary relevance. Through this Mount Etna tour, guests will discover one of the most active volcanoes in the world and will admire from various lookout points the summit craters standing in the distance. An expert guide will lead guests to discover the secrets of the highest active volcano of Europe and will introduce it to the fascinating volcanic phenomena, walking through ancient woods, on old craters and unique lava formations. After the jeep tour, guests will be transferred to a Farm located in Zafferana Etnea, on “Etna wine road”, to enjoy a visit, a wine tasting and a typical lunch. A wonderful opportunity to savour the full genuineness of nature in respect of the Sicilian traditions. Brucoli is a typical fishing village on the Sicilian east coast, 15 km from Vaccarizzo and 25 km from Catania. You find limestone cliffs alternating with grottos, bays, and small beaches. Right at the seaside, there are lots of restaurants and bars. The former fishing village has developed into a seaside and a snorkelling resort for tourists. The city centre, nevertheless, has preserved its authenticity. It is marked by small fishermen’s houses, many well restored and meanwhile rented out as tourist accommodations or harbouring restaurants typical of the region. The small fishing boats you see rocking to and from at the harbour are still used for daily fishing today. For maritime connections between Sicily and the mainland you need not go far, only to Brucoli harbour, from where boats depart for the mainland. The 15th century fortress, built as a means of protection against pirate attacks, is worth a closer look.
