DAY 5 TASHKENT - NUKUS - KHIVA
After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Nukus.
Nukus is best known for its remarkable art museum, founded in 1966 by the Moscow artist Igor Savitsky. Together with a museum in St. Petersburg, it holds the world’s second‑largest collection of Russian and Soviet avant‑garde art. The museum also features an impressive archaeological and ethnographic collection, including nomadic jewelry, antique vases, and even an oval sarcophagus. Due to ongoing renovation work, some archaeological and applied‑arts exhibitions remain temporarily closed. Following the museum visit, the journey continues to the Mizdakhan archaeological complex, located about 23 km from Nukus. Considered the oldest necropolis in Uzbekistan, Mizdakhan stretches across three hills and contains remnants of ancient fortresses, mausoleums, and structures from various periods, ranging from antiquity to the late Middle Ages. According to local legend, Adam’s tomb is also found here.
The day concludes with the drive to Khiva, where you will check into the Darvaza Khiva hotel (or similar) for dinner and overnight stay. MESMERISING UZBEKISTAN: TREASURES OF THE SILK ROAD 2026
