take me to The Norwegian Fjords Western Norway is a region of narrow fjords cutting into tall mountains, of waterfalls cascading down mountainsides, and of glaciers that never melt. Spectacular architecture and exciting food made from local produce enhance the experience.

The stunning landscapes of Fjord Norway were created by a succession of ice ages and hasn’t changed much since. Here, the seals and eagles reign, and the whales and fish patrol the deep fjords.

In Western Norway you’ll find everything from desolate skerries to some of Norway’s largest cities. A short drive is all it takes to go from urban life to quiet countryside or prime wilderness.

Along the sides and at the inner and outer ends of each fjord you’ll find small communities and villages, each with its own speciality that reflects its local traditions and what was possible to grow in each place.

Many of the region’s fertile valleys are ideal for growing fruit, and apples, pears, cherries and strawberries are popular and common crops. Wild game, fish, or locally reared sheep form the base of many a special dish from Western Norway.

Pinnacle means “high point”—and the debut of Koningsdam is a high point in Holland America Line history. Then again, in many ways, Koningsdam has been 143 years in the making. As heir, she’ll carry forward all of the tradition, nautical heritage, and signature service and style for which Holland America Line is known—while raising the bar for 21st-century elegance.
