DAY 2 PORTO MONIZ

On this guided tour of Madeira’s West Coast, we explore some of the island’s most iconic and picturesque landmarks. Our journey begins in the charming fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, admired for its beautiful views and distinctive coastal scenery. We then continue to Ribeira Brava, a municipality known for its lush landscapes and natural beauty. Passing through Ponta do Sol and Calheta, we make our way up to Paul da Serra — Madeira’s largest plateau — where you can enjoy sweeping views over the northern valleys, framed by the ancient Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Crossing the island, we arrive in Porto Moniz, famed for its natural volcanic swimming pools. Following the dramatic North Coast, we head towards São Vicente, a picturesque town nestled between the mountains and the sea, where we pause for lunch and a wine tasting at a local restaurant. We end the day at Cabo Girão, one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs. From its glass-floored viewpoint, you’ll take in breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, the village of Câmara de Lobos, and the bay of Funchal.
