DAY 1 – MALTA – PALERMO - MONDELLO

Castelbuono, famous for the old Castel built by the Ventimiglia family, and the famous chapel of St Anna inside. St Anna is patron saint of Castelbuono (entrance fee to the Castel not included). Later walk in the picturesque streets and taste of some typical pastries and manna. After breakfast proceed for an orientational tour of Cefalu which is notable for beautiful sunsets, unpretentious charm, and a very appealing blend of ingredients for an Italian seaside holiday. Sandy beaches, a picturesque historic town on a rocky headland, some high culture in the shape of a fine Norman Cathedral, decent transport links, Sicilian food and sunshine all add up to make the town one of Italy’s most attractive seaside destinations. Unlike themodernbeach resorts anddeveloped fishing villages which dot Italy’s coast, Cefalù has some grandeur in its past, it was important enough that one of Sicily’s Norman rulers, Roger II, would build a glorious cathedral here. While its later history was less distinguished, there are some substantial and elegant buildings in the town, as well as reminders of Sicily’s varied influences, not just Norman and Byzantine, but also Arab, Spanish and finally Italian. Drive to Forum Shopping Mall. A stunning state-of-the art architecture, iconic design and over 120 shops Forum- Palermo offers a truly unique shopping experience. Add 2400 parking spaces, kids play centre and there’s even a cinema to complete your perfect day out. Clothes, accessories, shoes, sports wear, underwear, electronic products, but also treatments such as nails, make-up, facials and solarium can be all found under one roof. Wherever you are in Forum Palermo, you are never too far from somewhere to sit, drink or eat. There is a good range of cafes ( sip your espresso at Segafredo or Lavazza),bars, pizzerias, fast food places( try Old Wild West) and restaurants ( Rossopomodoro and Rossosapore serve up authentic Neapolitan cuisine) giving you plenty of options when you are looking to drop your bags and take a load off. DAY 4 – CEFALU – FORUM SHOPPING MALL

Meet the tour manager at Malta International for your flight to Palermo. Drive to Mondello which is more than just a beach resort, it’s an education in Sicilian custom, rituals and adolescent bonding. The road which curves behind the beach makes a pleasant stroll. Up at the far end of the bay, the ‘centre’ of the town, a waterfront piazza rather blighted by advertising boards for eateries, is useful for eating and shopping. The most historic sight is the old stone watchtoawer which predates the beach resort. It’s worth wandering up as far as the harbour, though, where small fishing boats bob up and down and old men fish from the jetty. The symbol of Mondello is the striking Art Nouveau building on a pier in the middle of the bay, the Charleston. Dating back to the more elegant heyday of the resort, this has been restored and sits in yellow glory over the blue waters of the bay. Transfer to your 4* Mercure Palermo Centro hotel for check in. Breakfast and today we will start our tour by driving to Monreale where one can see the magnificent Norman Duomo with the imposing “Cristo Pantocratore”. This church is covered with mosaics with scenes from the Old Testament. Proceed to Palermo with a visit to the Palazzo dei Normanni (entrance fee not included). From here one can follow on foot Via Vittorio Emanuele towards Via Maqueda. Visit the Cathedral which dates back to 1184, I Quattro Canti, The chuch of St Joseph dei Teatini and Piazza Pretoria. Further down on Via Vittorio Emanuele one can stroll along ‘Via Roma’ which is famous for its shops, Teatro Massimo and the Politeama Garibaldi theatre. DAY 3 – NATIONAL PARK MADONIE MOUNTAINS – GIBILMANNA – GRATTERI - CASTELBUONO Breakfast and the tour today will lead you to the National Park of the Madonie Mountains. First stop will be at Gibilmanna, which means ‘gibil’ a mountain of manna. The name Manna comes from a sweetish substance that is collected from local Mountain Ash trees in late summer. Here we visit the Sanctuary and the Baroque Chapel of the Virgin Mary. Later drive to Gratteri which is a typical laid back Sicilian village. It is surrounded by beautiful pine, oaks woods and sites such as Pizzo Dipilo. The city boasts areas of historical importance to Sicily. Although probably founded by the Romans, as a coin discovered at the area seems to confirm, the town design betrays clear Arab- Medieval features. Proceed for City tour of Rome visitingRepublic Square, Barberini Square, Via Veneto, Villa Borghese, Ripetta Street, Mausoleo di Augusto, Pietra and Parliamento Square. Later proceed to The Catacombs which are spread over 17 kilometers of underground caves, some of which are inaccessible. They are laid out on four levels – one on top of another. The catacombs of the Eternal City offer one of the most complete and eloquent pictures of the Christian community in Imperial Rome, and of Catholicism in the city between the 2nd and 9th centuries. Until the 2nd century, in fact, the early Christians didn’t have their own cemeteries but were buried alongside the pagans in communal burial grounds outside the city along the main consular roads. Breakfast and today we will start our city tour by touring some of the most important landmarks of Rome, one of the four main Basilicas in Rome – St. John in Lateran the ‘mother of all churches’, built under the emperor Constantine, the first Christian Caesar, and renewed by Borromini in the XVII century – The “Holy Stairs” with the 28 steps ascended by Christ in Pontius Pilates’ house during his trial, San Paolo Fuori le Mura which is a patriarchal basilica dedicated to St Paul, near the site of his tomb and containing his shrine. It is also the Roman basilica assigned to the Patriarch of Alexandria, and the second largest church in Rome. Later we will proceed to Navona Square, a typical Baroque square and The Pantheon which is the most complete ancient building in Rome and one of the city’s most spectacular sights. Visit to the Vatican, St Peter`s Basilica the largest Church of the world, with millions of golden mosaics, several Tombs of Popes and the Pieta, Michelangelo`s most important sculpture. Meet the tour manager at Malta International Airport for your flight to Milan on Air Malta. Upon arrival transfer to Lake Garda and check in at the 4* Gardaland Hotel. Our experience in Lake Garda will kick off with a tour of the southern part of the Lake and visit the beautiful towns of Desenzano, Sirmione, and Peschiera, which are along the Lake shore. Evening outing to Bardolino. A full day dedicated to the young or young at heart. Breakfast and this day is probably the most amusing day of all and will be completely devoted to Gardaland. Morning transfer to Gardaland which is a great place for enjoyable attractions and is the Number 1 Amusement Park in Italy, the one with the longest history and one of the most important ones at European Level. In 2005, the prestigious American magazine Forbes placed Gardaland Park at the fifth place among the best amusement parks in the world! The great variety of attractions and shows is able to satisfy a truly diversified crowd: from early childhood to adolescence all the way to third age, from groups of teenagers to families. Discover the wonderful underwater world. In the morning following breakfast we will head to the Sea Life Aquarium. The Aquarium is 3,500 m² large and shows the life on and beneath the surface of the water. The tour at the aquarium leads you through the fascinating haunts with its typical denizens. In the lovely designed tanks are aquatic animals like seahorses, crabs, rays, sharks, octopus, jellyfishes and many more. One of the highlight is the underwater tunnel. We then walk to the famous Rialto Bridge, with the possibility of indulging on a romantic tour of the canals on a traditional real Venetian Gondola (fee not included). In the afternoon we will walk through the narrow alleys of Venice so as to be able to discover some of the city’s hidden treasures. We admire the magnificent view over the Grand Canal and stroll around the stalls of one of Venice’s market places. On our way back we will also have some free time for lunch and for souvenier shopping. Later we shall make a stop in Padova and cross the bridge, Piazza delle Erba towards the Basilica di San Antonio where we shall see the Saint`s Tomb and many relics. After breakfast proceed for an exciting excursion to the Dolomiti Mountains where the drive take us through the Rendena Valley. Breathtaking scenery of mountains mostly covered with forests. Meet your tour manager at Malta International Airport for your flight to Vienna. Upon arrival proceed for city tour of Vienna. Transfer to River Cruise where you will board the MS Symphonie for your 7 night cruise. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we'll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. The ship will sail towards Melk through the night. Meals- Dinner Join us on an excursion (optional). Visit the Melk Abbey. We'll then cruise up the beautiful Wachau Valley all the way to Durnstein, passing gothic ruins and picturesque villages along the way.
