Mpumalanga is a magnificent region, home to many of South Africa's most spectacular natural sights. We'll journey to the best of the best, visiting the legendary Blyde River Canyon, third largest in the world, and enjoy the never-ending Lowveld landscape from the ledge of God's Window. We visit the quaint, historical mining town of Pilgrim's Rest, and tuck into a delicious lunch at the famous Harrie's Pancakes. In the afternoon, we give ourselves time to explore the extraordinary rock formations of Bourke's Luck Potholes, one of nature's most intriguing creations. En-route back to Hazyview, time and weather permitting, guests have the opportunity (own account) to experience the Graskop Gorge lift tour which will take you 51 metres down along a cliff face into the mountain forest below. Once at the bottom, a wooden walkway, rising and falling and crossing suspension bridges, will take guests along a 600 metre interpretation trail through the indigenous forest. From canyons to potholes, Mpumalanga's a province of many splendid things.

Featherbed Eco-Experience including buffet lunch

This pristine piece of paradise situated on the Western Head of Knysna is a privately-owned, registered Nature Reserve and a South African Heritage Site. In order to protect the splendour of the natural beauty, access to the reserve is controlled. Visits are only permitted in the company of the reserve’s specialist guides. The Featherbed Nature Reserve offers a Knysna adventure activity not to be missed. The eco tour begins with a cruise across the Knysna estuary. On arrival at the nature reserve guests will enjoy a 4x4 Unimog & trailer ride to the top of the Western Head. Here the optional 2.2 kilometre downhill guided walk will begin, passing through Milkwood forests onto the steep sandstone cliffs, into ancient Khoi-San sea caves and along a scenic coastal path fringed with aromatic fynbos.

Your guide will inform you on the fauna, flora and bird life in the reserve. On the coastal walk back, you can often spot the resident Black African Oyster Catcher, one of the rarest coastal birds in South Africa. The Food Forest Restaurant is situated on the edge of the Lagoon under a canopy of Milkwood trees where we serve the most sumptuous buffet lunch fit for a king.

Take the ferry to this historic site, pass buildings and a high wall built by prisoners during the 1960s before meeting your guide, a former political prisoner from the Island, fully conversant and knowledgeable about the Island’s multi-layered 500 year old history. Your route, aboard a bus, includes the graveyard of people who died from leprosy, the Lime Quarry, Robert Sobukwe’s house, the Bluestone quarry, the army and navy bunkers and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South Africa’s freedom fighters were incarcerated for years culminating with a viewing of Nelson Mandela’s cell. The area’s rich with history, and we can’t help but feel it as we move through the region to experience a wine cellar tour and tasting, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. We visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument, and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where else could we choose to enjoy lunch. Wind our way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side. Stroll through this little town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two (on Sundays not all galleries and shops are open).
