Los Angeles Los Angeles, the ‘City of Angels’, is an essential stop on any visit to California and Western USA. Las Vegas In just over an hours’ flight or a four-hour drive, from Los Angeles, is Las Vegas. Watch one or more of the most sought-after shows in Las Vegas. California’s best bits • San Francisco: Muir Woods, just a half- hour drive from San Francisco, is the only surviving primordial redwood forest; a tranquil place where sunlight filters 100 metres down through the canopy of 1,000-year-old trees to the laurel and fern-covered canyon floor below. Alternatively a three-hour drive away is Yosemite National Park, a patchwork of swaying meadows, shadowy forests and granite cliffs unfurled across the heart of California. • Los Angeles: Visit El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Park and learn about the origins of the city.
