Experiences Switzerland packs a big punch for its relatively small size amongst the European heavyweights. Lake Geneva, Western Europe’s largest, affords breathtaking alpine views and supports stylish lakeside cities such as Lugano, Montreux and Lausanne, offering local character and a rich cultural mix that stems from Switzerland’s unique position in the heart of Europe. Swiss ski resorts are world-renowned, including Zermatt, sitting in the shadow of the magnificent Matterhorn, and the old school glamour of Gstaad and St. Moritz.

The charming Jungfrau region has more than 500 kilometres of hiking trails which pass crystal-blue lakes against alpine views of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Monch. Über-cool Zurich is one of Europe’s most fashionable destinations, with its riverside lounges, reborn industrial districts and array of cultural attractions such as art galleries and concert venues. Alpine tradition is strong here, reflected in the typical gastronomic fare of gooey cheese fondue, cured meats and velvety chocolate. However, Switzerland’s modern cities are known for excelling in more contemporary European cuisine.
