Switzerland • Mountains and Lakes

Interlaken Interlaken is located in central Switzerland, at around two hours from Zurich or Geneva. The city is built on a narrow strip of land between two Alpine lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and at the foot of three mountains; Eiger, Mönch and the Jungfrau. In summer, Interlaken makes an ideal starting point for excursions to the nearby villages Grindelwald, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Murren, each of them located spectacularly in valleys around the town. In winter, Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland are covered under a white blanket of snow where skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing are at the order of the day. Grindelwald A village in Switzerland’s Bernese Alps, Grindelwald is a popular gateway for the Jungfrau Region, with skiing in winter and hiking in summer. This village is also a base for mountain- climbing ascents up the infamous North Face of Eiger Mountain. Gletscherschlucht, a glacial gorge just outside Grindelwald, features paths with interpretive signage, waterfalls and striated limestone walls. Grindelwald can be reached just under two hours from both Zurich and Geneva. Lucerne Lying on the shores of an alpine lake and flanked by the Rigi and Pilatus mountains, Lucerne is renowned for its Renaissance town hall and splendid covered bridges. The gateway to the Alps, Lucerne also opens the door to the most beautiful ski areas in the region, all reachable within the hour. From Zurich, Lucerne is just an hour’s drive away, and from Geneva and it takes just under three hours. St. Moritz Switzerland’s original winter wonderland and the cradle of Alpine tourism, St. Moritz is located on the southern side of the Alps. With over 320 days of sun every year, St. Moritz offers an all-year-round guarantee of exceptional leisure and sporting attractions, cultural highlights, chic shopping and world-class events. St. Moritz can be visited from both Zurich and Milan and takes approximately three hours by car. Montreux Nestled on the northeast shore of Lake Geneva, Montreux is characterised by breathtaking landscapes, palm trees, orchards, snow-covered Alps and glaciers, Belle Epoque style and history, savoir-vivre and warm hospitality. Whilst in Montreux take time to visit Gruyère, the cheese village, or travel on the Golden Pass Train to the nearby town of Interlaken. Book a ride on the Chocolate Train for a tasting session in the Nestlé chocolate factory. Geneva is the closest gateway into Montreux and is just an hour’s drive away. Lausanne Situated by Lake Geneva, Lausanne is known for its gourmet restaurants, palaces, trendy restaurants and boutique hotels. The old city has medieval, shop-lined streets, a 12th century Gothic cathedral and the 19th century Palais de Rumine, housing fine art and science museums. Lausanne makes an ideal stopover between Geneva and Montreux, as it is just an hours drive from Geneva, and 30 minutes from Montreux.
