When to visit Italy’s Mediterranean climate means hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters, but there are considerable variations across the country. The south experiences milder winters and higher summer temperatures, while northern winters are colder and the summers more humid. The central areas enjoy a more balanced climate without such extremes. Currency: Euros (EUR). No problems using credit cards, or tracking down ATMs all over the country. Languages: Italian, with English spoken in main tourist areas.
Rome and Enchanting Sorrento 8 days/7 nights – Rail Tour Explore the eternal city of Rome and the charming region of Sorrento. Day 1-3: Rome Arrive in Rome and transfer to your hotel. On the second day take a three- hour walking tour and see Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. You then have the rest of the day at leisure. The next day indulge in shopping and enjoy some local Italian cuisine. We have many optional tours that you can book in addition to further explore Rome. Day 4: Rome – Naples – Sorrento Take your private transfer to Roma Termini station and board the high speed train to Naples. Your driver will take you to your hotel in Sorrento. Day 5: Sorrento – Capri – Sorrento The day is at leisure to wander around and soak up views over the Gulf of Naples. Browse around Corso Italia’s designer boutiques or sit back and enjoy a cappuccino in a cobbled street, or alternatively join an excursion to explore three of the area’s most beautiful villages, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, and enjoy their breathtaking coastal landscapes.
Day 6: Sorrento Enjoy a full-day excursion to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Capri, known for its colourful harbours, whitewashed lanes, chic boutiques and hilltop views over the Gulf of Naples. Weather permitting you can enjoy a visit of the magical blue grotto. Day 7: Sorrento – Pompeii – Sorrento Join an excursion to discover the unique ruins of Pompeii and see the excavated remains of the Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare and Vetti’s House. Day 8: Sorrento – Naples - Rome Your driver will drive you to the Naples Central Station where you will board a train to Rome. Upon arrival in Rome you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
