Day 1: Amman – Petra (380 kilometres) Arrive in Amman in the morning and drive to Petra along the 5,000-year-old King’s Highway, which passes through a string of ancient sites. Day 3: Petra – Dead Sea (200 kilometres) Drive to the remarkable scenery of the Dead Sea, which at 410 metres below sea level is the lowest point on Earth. When to visit Spring months from March to May bring the best all-round weather, with warm clear days and cool nights. The summer months from June to August are hot and dry, before warm and pleasant temperatures return from September to November. Desert winds can bring cooler changes, occasional rain and even snowfall during the winter months. Currency: Jordanian Dinar (JOD). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants. ATMs can be found in most towns and cities. Smaller shops and markets will only accept cash. Languages: Arabic is the official language, but English is usually spoken in resorts and tourist sites.
