Experiences Life moves at a different pace in the lush surrounds of northern Thai provinces Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Here you will find pristine rainforests, mystical mountains, serene temples, and river floodplains. At 35 acres and with over 8,000 stalls, Bangkok’s Chatuchak weekend market is a mind-boggling proposition for first- timers. Persevere and you will come across just about anything you could hope to find, from housewares and handicrafts to vintage clothes and street food.
Traditional Thai massage was first practiced by monks 2,500 years ago, and uniquely involves compression, rocking and about as much stretching as you might get from a typical yoga class. You can become a practitioner yourself with a short course at the many massage schools in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai or Koh Phangan. The abundant coral reefs of tiny Koh Tao have made it a leading dive centre with many dive schools, and one of the most affordable options anywhere to become PADI accredited.
