SINGAPORE Be there

Singapore is transforming into a ‘City within a Garden’, with its skyscrapers turning ‘green’, plenty of national park walking trails, a jungle treetop walk, and the UNESCO–listed Botanic Gardens not far from downtown.

Cosmopolitan Singapore draws tourist footfall with the promise of great shopping, exciting nightlife, and fine food experiences that rise from its multicultural roots, from street hawkers to Michelin starred restaurants. This small island city-state has broad family appeal too, with the man-made recreation island of Sentosa offering up thrills and spills galore.

Experiences One of Singapore’s most popular attractions is Gardens By The Bay, a 100 hectare nature park whose Flower Dome is the world’s largest greenhouse, and whose extraordinary Supertrees dominate the skyline. These 50-metre vertical gardens are clad in exotic plants, collect water, generate power, cool the environment and are spectacular when illuminated at night. Wildlife lovers are spoiled for choice, with the long established Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park now joined by the dual attractions of the Night Safari and River Safari, whose Giant Panda Forest is one of its biggest draws.

The half-day Singapore City Tour takes in the city’s finest views, a visit to one of its oldest temples, a stroll through the National Orchid Garden, the sights and scents of Little India and a ride on the giant Singapore Flyer ferris wheel. Take a walk through a bygone era in the half-day Footsteps of our Colonial Past tour, visiting magnificent colonial buildings and river bridges and reliving the very foundation of this fascinating modern city.

When to visit Singapore’s climate doesn’t vary too much year- round, retaining high temperatures and humidity. April and May are the warmest months, while March and September are usually the most humid. The month of December tends to see the most rainfall, while January enjoys the coolest temperatures. Languages: Mandarin Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil are the official languages, with English the widespread common language of communication.
